A new manager takes the helm at the leading fair organiser in Madrid, which has Salón Look – the main Spanish event for the hair & beauty industry – among its most successful events.
With the objective of promoting a new strategic business plan, Ifema has appointed Juan Arrizabalaga as its new general director at Ifema Madrid. Arrizabalaga replaces Eduardo López-Puertas – General Director of Ifema Madrid for the last six years – who is now joining the Makro Spain Management Committee as the company’s new Integral Supply Chain Director.
Ifema’s new strategic plan intends give a definitive boost to its transformation and growth. “We aspire to place Madrid globally as the city of reference in our sector,” said Arrizabalaga. It’s a development aimed at supporting professional exhibitions in relation to different industries, with a large and publicised offer of leisure, shows and other important attractions.
Public leisure and events are at the centre of Ifema Madrid’s plans to diversify. It will create new lines of activity adding value to the business, as well as making its facilities more profitable. Ifema’s total revenues reached €187.7 Million in 2022, regaining pre-pandemic levels.
However, Ifema’s intention to expand its exhibition space is a goal which unfortunately will not be possible anytime soon, because authorities have frozen urbanisation projects on the Valdebebas site. Despite this uncertainty, the new director has the organisation of Salón Look 2023 – the leading hair & beauty fair in Spain – well underway. It will take place from September 13th – 15th 2023. The organisers guarantee that the rescheduling of the fair to its new slot in September will bring more opportunities at both domestic and international levels.
