Looking into the Future: Cosmoprof Sees a Bright and Profitable Decade Ahead

Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna is the main event of a wide range of fairs that consolidate Cosmoprof as the leading B2B international Exhibition for the cosmetic industry.

The forthcoming edition of Cosmoprof Bologna Worldwide (March 12-16) has been officially presented at the traditional press conference held in Milan.

The healthy state of the Beauty Industry inspired much enthusiasm from the speakers that represented the organisers, (Bologna Fiere Cosmoprof) as well as Cosmetica Italia, the Association of Italian Beauty Manufacturers, as well as the Italian Trade Commission. Statistics and achievements held up by the worldwide network, led by Bologna Cosmoprof, inspire faith in more ambitious goals becoming reality, not only in 2020 but for the whole decade ahead.

With its 53 years of history, Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna is still a unique event among international trade fairs,” says Gianpiero Calzolari, President of BolognaFiere. Cosmoprof is a reference event for operators and companies all over the world: the event offers a detailed and referenced view of future evolution for the sector. The 2020 edition will bring over 3,000 companies to Bologna – over 70% from abroad – and more than 265,000 attendees: these record results have been achieved thanks to the collaboration with Cosmetica Italia, making Cosmoprof an ambassador of our made in Italy, and with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and ITA – Italian Trade Agency. ”

The cosmetic industry is a thriving sector for the Italian economy: it has been able to overcome even the most complex scenarios, for positive and often acyclic dynamics,” addsRenato Ancorotti, President of Cosmetica Italia. “The forecasts for the end of 2019 indicate a global turnover of 11.6 billion euros and an increase of over 2 percentage points compared to the previous year. Exports exceed 40% of this value and confirm how much the products of our companies are appreciated and recognized for their quality, safety and innovation all over the world. The trade balance continues to set new records year after year and for 2019 it will mark a further + 5.5% for a value of 2.9 billion. Thanks to these results and to the solid partnership with BolognaFiere and Cosmoprof, we look to the future with optimism”.

In the first ten months of 2019, Italian beauty export increased by 4.4% compared to the same period of the previous year, marking a value of 4.2 billion euros,” continues Carlo Ferro, President of ITA Agency. “As ITA we therefore want to consolidate Cosmoprof as the main international exhibition of the sector, offering opportunities to an increasing number of Italian companies and start-ups, which make technological development and innovation a strength of our competitiveness on international markets”.

Carlo Ferro has also underlined how the Italian Government, through the ITA Agency, will increase its support of the e-commerce sector, with special attention to the beauty industry, as it is considered fundamental to the export market.

For the first time 30 Beauty Tech Startups

Among the special activities of the Cosmoprof Bologna’s rich program, one gets to be mentioned as brand new: an exhibition space will be offered, for the first time, to 30 beauty tech startups in the context of Garden of Innovation. Enrico Zannini, General Manager of BolognaFiere Cosmoprof, explains the reason: “The salon is an observatory of the trends that characterise the cosmetic industry worldwide, and we could not ignore the rapid development of beauty tech. Today, in fact, there are many start-ups that, employing the most modern technologies, offer industrial solutions and services for retail in a hi-tech key, to bring brands closer to new generations of consumers.
Our selection has been made – continued the manager – in collaboration with: Cariplo Factory, FaB – Fashion and Beautytech, FoundersFactory, Living in Digital Times and Unicredit Start Lab.
Furthermore, thanks to the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and of the International Cooperation and of ITA – Italian trade agency, the companies will participate in a pitch, which will Introduce the best projects to venture capitalists, investors, buyers and institutions.”

A Global Beauty Exhibition Network

The importance of Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna goes much further then the domestic Italian Market. Year-on-year they are increasing their role as facilitators of business opportunities for companies and operators, and consequently the development of the cosmetic markets of the whole world. The effort to maintain their position as leader exhibition for International Trade for the Cosmetic Industry is proved by the size and importance of the exhibition area dedicated to the Country Pavilions.

23 international pavilions will bring small and medium-sized beauty companies from all over the world to Bologna: Belgium, California, China, Brazil, France, Germany, Japan, Greece, Indonesia, Israel, Korea, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, Turkey, UK, USA and, for the first time, Mongolia, the Czech Republic and Russia.

The Sectors of Cosmoprof

From Thursday 12 to Sunday 15 March 2020, Cosmopack and Cosmo | Perfumery & Cosmetics will open, offering an incredible range of “Attractions”: meetings between producers and specialists in the supply chain, finished product companies, buyers and retailers for Perfumery and Cosmetics, Green & Organic and Cosmoprime, the area dedicated to high-end perfumery.

From Friday 13 to Monday 16 March, the professional distribution channels of Cosmo | Hair & Nail & Beauty Salon, where owners of salons and beauty centres, hairstylists, hairdressers, nail technicians and distributors specialised in these segments, will have opportunities to meet and develop their business.
