The most celebrated show in Asia, the main hub of the Beauty industry of the region tried to resist the numerous threats brought by the pandemic crisis and political tensions, but finally had to surrender to a worsening situation.
With physical event to resume in November 2021, Cosmoprof Asia launches an exhaustive virtual exhibition programme: the Digital Week, 9 – 13 November, 2020.
Cosmoprof Asia Ltd, a joint-venture company between BolognaFiere Group and Informa Markets, has just announced the rescheduling of Cosmopack and Cosmoprof Asia 2020 originally due to take place 11-13 November at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The show plans to make its physical return in November 2021. In the meanwhile, Cosmoprof Asia will take advantage of the recent successful experience with the online events, in order to re-affirm its role as the definitive platform for high-quality business to business activities in Asia-Pacific by offering a comprehensive virtual exhibition programme in 2020.
In the effort to find a way to open the doors next November the Organizer of the Hong Kong beauty fair had recently announced a new strategy: Two Fairs, One Venue! That was supposed to bring together Cosmopack & Cosmprof Asia under one roof in Hong Kong from 11-13 November ’20 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).
In addition, the organisers were planning to launch a Digital Week of activities held right after the physical event to offer more companies and professionals the ability to participate virtually.
In recent months the Chinese market appeared able to recover after the dire period od the Covid Pandemic, and also other Asian Countries are starting to resume regular activities, therefore, despite a global downturn in the economy, the hopes to see another Beauty Fair open the doors in Honk Kong were still high.
But we cannot deny that the situation Hong Kong is facing seems getting even more dire: political and economic upheaval is threatening a very bumpy road ahead for the former British Colony.
Before the pandemic is even over, new riots are already blocking traffic and jeopardising the prospects for future tourism and business.
The tensions between Mainland China and the former British colony is at his peak, and most of all, from an exhibition point of view, travel to the area is hard and custom requirements change abruptly disrupting activities that require a large number of visitors form abroad.
Keeping these elements in consideration, the most important Beauty exhibition in the region, Cosmoprof Asia, was obliged to cancel the physical edition for 2020. The Cosmetic Industry is severely affected by this annulment and most of all by the still uncertain future that the whole Beauty Fair Industry is facing. We all join the organisers in the hope that the Cosmoprof well know international brand will have the ability to keep the Global Beauty Industry together with online events in the coming months, and see a strong recovery in 2021.
