London: Challenges Prove Insurmountable for Salon International in 2020

Despite tenuous efforts and positivity by the team behind Salon International – the UK premier hair trade fair – we have just received the sad news that the organizers feel it will be impossible to proceed with the event this year.

This is the first time since 1973 that Salon International will not be taking place. The organisers, who had been working towards running the exhibition which normally attracts visitors from UK and overseas in their thousands, have announced their reluctant decision to postpone the event which was due to run from 10th-12th October 2020.

“When the UK Government gave exhibitions the ‘go’ date in July, we were very excited and worked tirelessly to create an environment that was safe and would allow us to provide the inspiration and education the show is renowned for,” commented Executive Director of Hairdressers Journal, Jayne Lewis-Orr. “However, that original announcement has not been matched with a practical commitment by the authorities; meaning that we may have been forced to cancel the October event at short notice. We are not prepared to put our visitors or our exhibitors through unnecessary cost and inconvenience, with the genuine prospect of last-minute cancellation.”

The Salon International show dates are booked or October 16 – 18th 2021 at ExCeL London, so save the date and we shall see you next year.
