How to Face the Pandemic Panic?

In times of epidemic scares and Fairs being postponed, the Beauty Industry seeks ways to keep doing business, finding Smart digital solutions.

We are living in unprecedented times. The outbreak of a contagious disease, with the diffusion of the Corona Virus in many countries worldwide, has never been experimented by any living woman or man.
In other words, in the past we might have had other epidemic situations, or even pandemics, that spread out and killed many more people than this CORVID-19 is doing now. But this is certainly the first time an epidemic has been so well-documented, so incessantly broadcasted, commented, and overestimated so as to produce, above all, dangerous panic and irrational fear.
We understand from the scientists’ explanation, that this Corona Virus is not extremely dangerous. It can infect a large number of people, but only 5% of them are likely to develop some serious form of pneumonia, and a mere 1% to 2% at risk of death, lethal cases hitting mostly elderly and weakened patients already suffering from other dire diseases.

What is really worrying now are the consequences this universal panic attack represents for the world economy.
In January we were worried about China because it represents the second market of the world and has highest growing consumption rate.
But at the end of February we have come to realise that there are many more countries directly influenced by the epidemic scare’s side effects.

The beauty Industry is not immune. Actually, it has been one of the first to suffer dramatic reductions in sales. Starting in Asia, the whole beauty business has been crippled by travel restrictions and the cancellation or rescheduling of important exhibitions. Traders have stopped visiting other countries, business trips have been postponed, orders have been suspended. Now, only a couple of weeks before the opening, even the most important Beauty Fair of the world, Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna, has been postponed to June 11-15.

What does this situation indicate for the Industry?
What are the implications for the global economy?
The general consensus of opinion is “Damages ” – in terms of loss of business, fewer orders and sales.

Is there anything we can we do to help our industry recover quickly?

The answer is: we can use digital platforms. We can take advantage of the existence of digital media to inform the whole industry about news and business opportunity. Websites that reach the main players of the beauty industry directly. Newsletter that inform traders, distributors and brands about the most significant events and news.
A digital platform (for example, Esteticaexport.com) can travel without restrictions, can reach the most important actors of the Beauty Professional Industry in every corner of the globe. And this is the most effective way to maintain connections, remain visible, and find new contacts and opportunities, even in times when people cannot travel everywhere or do not feel comfortable about travelling.

We have the tools, we have the knowledge, let’s put them to good use to improve our business, and our lives.
